Fruit Smoothie Recipes - Choc and Greens

My used-to-be favorite of the fruit smoothie recipes is this delicious green smoothie with some added cacao powder for a heavenly dark chocolate flavor. The cacao isn't such a healthy choice as it is a stimulant, and I had to give it up as my body is not a big fan of stimulants anymore. However, I enjoyed this for a while before my body made its desires clearly known! If you are sensitive to caffeine, substitute carob powder for the cacao! I love carob powder now instead of cacao. Ingredients 2x ripe unfrozen bananas 6-8x frozen bananas (peeled and broken into halves before freezing) 4-6x fresh dates 300-400g baby spinach 2x tablespoons of organic cacao powder Method Blend the dates and the 2x unfrozen bananas in the blender first. Do not add any water. Add the baby spinach and blend that into the banana and date mix. If you have a thick stick type thing that usually comes with most blenders, use this to help things along. It goes much faster when you use this to push the ingredients down onto the blades. Next, add the cacao powder and blend that in. Finally, add the 6-8x frozen bananas. Use the stick to push down onto the blades. This makes an amazingly delicious dark chocolate smoothie delight! I am not big on the taste of greens (unlike Jaye who snacks on them as if they're crisps), but believe me, with this smoothie you don't even know you are eating greens. You just taste chocolate milkshake heaven! This can either serve one person for a HUGE meal or two people for a medium meal. Filling and delightful!
