We took a trip to the Los Angeles Farmers Market to find out what it's like to buy direct from farmers in California.
Living in Dubai as we currently do, we shop at a fruit and vegetable market but it is not a 'direct from farmer' market as very little fruit is locally grown. However, we do manage to buy lots of fruit from surrounding areas, such as Oman and Saudi Arabia.
There is also a small local farmers market selling mainly organic vegetables, and we buy most of our vegetables there.
We can also buy in bulk and this enables us to feel really abundant in the raw lifestyle, as we can buy cases of bananas and mangoes and tomatoes and pile the car up with watermelons and all the other produce that costs a fortune in the supermarkets!
If you eat a lot of raw food then it is amazingly worthwhile to shop at local markets. It can save you a lot of money, as well as being supportive of local produce.
So hope you enjoy this short and sweet glimpse of the farmers market Los Angeles!
