Mono Diet

A mono diet is consuming one type of food only for a period of time. Some refer to this as visiting mono island. The best way to do a mono island is to choose one type of fruit (your favorite fruit would be best!) and eat ONLY that fruit for a period of time. You can do mono island safely for a significant period of time! Anne Osborne, the author of
Fruitarianism: The Path to Paradise
has mono dieted for six months on melons and on three separate occasions on only orange juice, one of those times for 52 days. She said it was massively cleansing, very close to a water fast in its eliminative capability. Fruits contain everything we need, they are our perfect food. Fruits contain the highest number of vitamins of any food! They also contain the second highest number of minerals (vegetables have the highest). Fruits contain roughly 5% protein (and 5% is EXACTLY how much protein we need!) and 3% fat (also, just PERFECT!) and 92% carbohydrates. Provided that you consume enough calories for your activity level, you have no danger of developing any nutritional deficiencies while mono dieting for a period of time. I frequently mono MEAL, which is eating just one kind of food per meal. I often have watermelon for breakfast, or freshly squeezed orange juice, and this is therefore a mono meal. I also frequently have mono meals for lunch. Fruits are the easiest food for us to digest, as they are already in their simplest form and do not have to be broken down by the body. When fruits are consumed in a mono meal, the task of digestion becomes EVEN SIMPLER, and the body therefore has even more energy to deal with stored toxins and wastes. Mono island is therefore a wonderful way to cleanse and detox! When on a mono diet, it is best to consume whole fruits, or blended up in smoothies, rather than juice. This is because the fruit contains the perfect amount of fiber to help the absorption of nutrients. This is with the exception of orange juice, which is fine to drink as it retains most of the pulp in the juice. Watermelon juice is also great, as you just blend it up in the blender and it contains all its fiber. A great way to lose a few extra pounds! If you did 10 days on mono island, you would lose some weight and feel fantastic! The easiest for most people seems to be banana island, as bananas are very filling and satisfying, and it is therefore easiest to mono diet on them. I have done 4 days on orange juice only, known as the orange juice diet, and I felt fantastic, but I did find the cleansing symptoms were quite powerful, it was almost as intense as
Water Fasting!
Doing mono bananas is much easier. Make sure you're eating enough! If you undereat you'll likely set yourself up for a binge once the mono dieting is complete. Make sure your fruit is RIPE! It's very important to ensure your fruit is RIPE! Unripe fruit will give you a tummy ache, hurt your teeth (in the case of oranges) and just generally leave you feeling unsatisfied. Finally, don't neglect hydration! Just because you're eating only water rich fruits, DOESN'T mean you don't need water. Continue to drink water, so that your body can even more easily flush those toxins out.
