This episode of The Alison and Jaye Show is about going 'no shampoo', and learning to make homemade hair shampoo.
Alison and Jaye discuss how they are gradually phasing out certain beauty products from their lives.
No Poo
Alison had been 'no poo' for eight weeks at the time of filming in early 2009, whereas Jaye was not only shampoo free, he had also cut out soap, toothpaste and shaving cream.
Why go 'no poo'?
Commercial shampoos and hair products contain harsh chemicals that actually strip your hair of its natural moisture balance, which either leads to dry or frizzy hair OR causes the hair to overproduce oil to compensate resulting in oiliness. Going 'no poo' is a way to bring your hair back into balance, and back to its natural, glossy state of beauty!
Homemade Shampoo Recipes
This video contains the best ideas on how to use household products such as apple cider vinegar to do a vinegar rinse and cleanse your hair, or how to make homemade shampoo recipes with lemons and cucumbers.
No deoderant? No Soap? No Shaving Cream?
Jaye demonstrates shaving using a mixture of lemon and cucumber and discusses how well this works.
He also discusses how, when your diet is clean, you no longer NEED deodorant or soap. Water is all you need to be clean and fresh!
Alison however, still uses soap - Dr Bronners Castile Soaps are organic and vegan and wonderful to use!
Wouldn't you like to have hair that looks like this?
