Raw Food Diet No Fat Trial Day 3

3 March 2009

Today was day 3 of my raw food diet 'no fat' trial and guess what?

I don't need deodorant anymore!

Okay, this isn't a result of just this trial of course, it's a result of two and a bit months of raw. If I don't spill something on my clothes I could just wear them again, they smell fresh as daisies, even after the hottest day and no deodorant.

Well this morning I got up at 5 but I really didn't want to. I felt very tired when the alarm went off, but once I was up I was full of energy and I haven't stopped all day, although now I'm keen for bed.

Exercise

I did 30 minutes on the treadmill first thing this morning followed by 3x20 dumbbell squat and shoulder press combination, 3x12 bent over rear delt fly's, 20 Lunge Jumps, 3x12 Standing Side Lateral Raises, and 3x12 Barbell Upright Rows.

I was supposed to exercise again this evening and I had the energy available, but I got carried away loading photos onto facebook and suddenly the evening was gone.

Weight

My weight this morning is holding steady at 124.3. So that is a total loss of 0.7 pounds for this raw food diet trial.

Raw Food Diet Trial: Food

We had run out of lettuce and spinach this morning so I couldn't have my usual green smoothie. So instead I took a fruit smoothie with 500g banana, 100g blueberries and 4x dates and had that for breakfast when I got to work.

For a snack I had 6x dates chopped up into small pieces with 130g celery. It was amazingly delicious! I will definitely have this again. Next time I'll put less dates in though as I had too many pieces of date in there and it was overpowering the celery. But when you get a mouthful that is just the perfect amount of dates and celery it is heaven!

For lunch I had a tomato, cucumber and papaya salad. I used 600g tomatoes, 270g cucumber and 250g papaya. The juice from the papaya coats the other vegetables and it made a delicious and HUGELY filling meal.

At about 4pm I had the last bit of Chocolate Orange Mousse pudding (70g). We'll have to make more soon, that stuff was just too good.

I was very full and satisfied today. If anything I ate too much food. I was forcing it in some of the time because I didn't want anything to go to waste. So I think I am still getting used to how much food to take.

I am finding the natural flavors of foods to be absolutely amazing!

The taste of cucumber! I never thought I would say that cucumber is one of the most delicious things, but this is how much my taste buds are changing since I've been on the living raw food diet.

For dinner I had the usual smoothie, blueberries, dates and banana. I didn't weigh this time (I forgot) but it was 4x bananas, about a handful of blueberries and 3x dates. I think with fitdays average measures it should all work out pretty close to accurate.

I have heaps of energy, I am only sleeping about 6 hours a night and while I could sleep more, I don't have any energy dips during the day. Even now, I am totally switched on, yet I know the moment my head hits the pillow I'll be dead to the world.

My food is very simple and easy to prepare. I've always been a creature of habit and will just recycle a few favorites. The one to get creative in the kitchen is usually Jaye. I just want to get in and out of the kitchen with the minimum fuss, and this raw food diet way of eating fits in very well with that.

Raw Food Diet Trial: Conclusions

So my figures for the raw food diet trial today were as follows: Calories 1728, Fat 8.7g, Carbs 434.3g, Protein 26g, Fiber 57.6g.

Percentage totals: 91% carbohydrates, 5% Protein, 4% Fat.
