This watermelon smoothie makes the perfect power sports drink. It comes out more like a fruit juice smoothie and is perfect for summer days in the sunshine!
While watermelons are in season and available, this drink is my breakfast of choice. It is so perfectly hydrating, which sets me up perfectly for a high energy day.
Now, while I've put it in a small pretty glass for the purposes of this picture, when I have a watermelon juice smoothie for breakfast I usually drink it out of a large 2 liter jug! So don't be shy on the quantities. Watermelon is very high water content and very low calorie. So you can afford to eat a lot of it! Isn't that fabulous?
Ingredients:
Fresh watermelon
Method:
Cut the watermelon in half and scoop out the fruit with a big spoon, just like you would scoop ice cream and put it in a blender.
Blend on high speed until all the pips are well blended in. Then, you can either just drink as is or if you prefer it to be very smooth you can pour it through a strainer.
The most wonderful thing about this smoothie, is that it is exactly like a juice, yet healthier than most fruit juices, because (even if you strained it), the fiber remains intact! So you're drinking a delicious juice smoothie, yet getting ALL that good fiber.
